FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN:

JOB DESCRIPTION:

A growing distributor of processing and packaging equipment is seeking a full-time Field Service Technician to be part of the company’s Service team.  The preferred candidate has a good Electrical as well as mechanical repair and troubleshooting background.  This position requires Travel throughout the week, both local, nationwide, and at times international.  Must have excellent driving record, a valid driver’s license, and a US passport. Preferred candidate has some experience in the packaging equipment, labelers, and filling equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Equipment technicians will need to be familiar with full range of the equipment that the company is selling, parts and components of complex machinery, as well as the tools to fix them
  • Equipment technicians will need to be familiar with electronics, be able to read blueprints, drawings, and use electronic equipment to troubleshoot the equipment during repairs
  • Equipment technicians are required to look at mechanical and electrical systems, identify problems by constituting the equipment’s documentation, and determine possible solutions.
  • To properly and correctly document the solutions that could be used by his or her colleagues in the future installations and repairs and add them to the customer’s documentation file.
  • Keep all operating and repair areas maintained, current and address any problems before they can worsen.
  • To travel to customer’s businesses, operate equipment and repair machinery.
  • To remotely access equipment and perform routine maintenance
  • To install and test equipment and provide customers with instructions on the proper usage of the machineries
  • Should have and maintain excellent technical and mechanical skills
  • To answer telephone inquiries, assist clients and record in conjunction with the service department billing procedure.
  • To use diagnostic tools to identify issues and evaluate the available information
  • Act professionally towards the customer and his or her colleagues.
  • To diagnose and solve problems based on equipment documentation that should be available and customer’s non-technical description
  • Once the problem is found, try to resolve it, first by following the instructions in the equipment’s manual (that should be in the customer’s file), second contact the team for suggestions, third contact the manufacturer if it is necessary and add it to the customer’s file.
  • To diagnose errors and technical problems then determine proper solutions to produce timely and detailed service reports using the machine’s documentation.
  • To satisfy customer needs by making appropriate recommendations and briefings using appropriate field automation systems, procedures, protocols, and machine’s documentation
  • To maintain all tools, tools boxes, inventory (once a year), and equipment in suitable working conditions, in the correct place and ensure proper storage.
  • To maintain cleanliness at the workplace.
  • To follow the workshop cleaning schedule.
  • To improve professional skills by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional materials and publications.
  • To participate on all team calls.
  • Follow health and safety requirements, according to the instructions.

  • To identify and report unsafe, unhealthy, or hazardous working conditions.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 4+ years of experience in Service Field
  • Proficiency in some or all: Electrical, Mechanical, and pneumatic
  • PLC troubleshooting and programming
  • Must Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Able to work well with other team members
